Change a Member's Access from the Project Team Tab
Project admins can see each member's access level and switch ordinary members between Read Only and Read & Write from the Project Team tab.
Overview
If you are a project admin, you can now see what each person on a project is allowed to do and switch an ordinary member between Read Only and Read & Write right from the Project Team tab. You no longer have to ask the project owner to make that change for you.
You are a project admin when the project header shows the Shared (admin) badge.
What You See
Open the project and choose the Project Team tab. Besides username, name and email, admins now get a Permission column:
What the row shows | What it means | Can you change it? |
Owner | The person who owns the project | No |
Project Admin | An admin, including you | No |
Read & Write (with a small arrow) | An ordinary member who can edit | Yes |
Read Only (with a small arrow) | An ordinary member who can only view | Yes |
Unknown | Sapience could not tell this member's level | No |
Members who are not admins see the same three columns as before, without Permission.
Changing a Member's Access
- Open the project and choose Project Team.
- In the Permission column, click the arrow next to the member's level.
- Choose Read Only or Read & Write.
The row updates straight away and you see a confirmation message.
💡 If the project is a template, or has translated versions, Sapience asks you to confirm first, because the change applies to every version.
What You Cannot Do
- You cannot change the owner, another admin, or yourself. Those rows have no arrow.
- You cannot make someone an admin. Only the project owner can grant the admin role, from the owner's own sharing list.
- If a change is refused for any reason, the row goes back to its previous level and the message explains why.
Summary
Project admins can see every member's access level on the Project Team tab and move ordinary members between Read Only and Read & Write themselves. The owner, other admins and your own row stay fixed, and only the owner can grant the admin role.
