Desktop: Sapience Toolbar
One-click access from the S at the edge of your screen: open Sapience, your Favorites, the New menu, search, dictation and voice.
Overview
On the desktop app, Sapience keeps a small S at the edge of your screen β the Sapience Toolbar. It gives you one-click access to the things you do most β open your favorites, create something new, dictate, search, or talk to your agent by voice β without first switching to the Sapience window.
Every action in the toolbar shows its icon next to its name β the same icons you see inside Sapience itself β so you can find what you want at a glance.
Opening the Toolbar
- Find the small S at the edge of your screen.
- Hover over it β a menu slides out under a Sapience Toolbar heading.
- Click any row to run that action.
- Hover a row to see a short description (and its keyboard shortcut, where it has one), so you can learn the shortcuts as you go.
Clicking the S opens the main Sapience window straight away β the same as the Open Sapience row. If you use the keyboard instead of a mouse, pressing Enter or Space on the S opens and closes the menu.
What's in the Menu
- Open Sapience β brings the main Sapience window to the front.
- Frequent Items β opens the main window with Sapience search, the same as Search Sapience.
- Favorites β brings the main window to the front with your Favorites open.
- Voice Agent β starts or stops a voice conversation with your agent, exactly the same as its keyboard shortcut.
- New βΈ (blue) β opens a side menu of everything you can create (see below).
- Dictate β starts dictation; the transcript is copied to your clipboard.
- Search Sapience β opens the main window with Sapience search.
- Hide Sapience Toolbar β hides the toolbar (see below).
Rows that have a keyboard shortcut run the same action as that shortcut, so the toolbar and the shortcut always behave identically.
Creating Something New
The blue New button works like the New button in the main Sapience window, and it lists the same choices in the same order:
- Conversation β the agent picker, to start a chat with the agent you choose.
- Note β a new note.
- Project β the New Project wizard.
- Task β a new task.
- Agent β the Create Agent window.
- Meeting β Meet Now and the meeting notetaker.
- Team Chat β a new team chat, with people and agents together.
Hover (or click) New and the choices slide out to its left; click one and Sapience comes forward with it open.
Some choices depend on your account β for example, creating agents, starting meetings, or team chat. If one isn't available to you, Sapience shows a short note explaining why instead of opening it.
Looking for the small, focused quick chat window? It still has its own keyboard shortcut.
Your Favorites, at a Glance
Clicking Favorites brings Sapience forward with the Favorites window open β the same one you reach from View All Favorites in the sidebar.
Each favorite now takes one line: its icon, its name, and a small label showing what kind of item it is (Note, Project, Agent, and so on). That fits about twice as many favorites on screen, so you can scan and open them faster. You can still search, reorder, and remove favorites there as before.
Where the Icons Come From
The toolbar's icons are supplied by the Sapience app itself, so they always match the icons used elsewhere in Sapience β the note icon, for example, is the same white square with a black S you see on notes in Files.
- When the toolbar opens, it asks the Sapience app for its icons.
- The Sapience window (which keeps running in the background, even when hidden) sends back the current icons.
- The toolbar draws each icon next to its row.
If the Sapience window is still starting up, the rows simply show their names without icons, and the icons appear the next time you open the toolbar. The toolbar always works β the icons are a visual extra, never a requirement.
Hiding and Showing the Toolbar
- To hide it: right-click the S, or click Hide Sapience Toolbar at the bottom of the menu.
- To bring it back: use the Sapience tray menu and turn the toolbar back on.
Sapience remembers your choice.
Summary
The Sapience Toolbar puts your most common actions one click away from anywhere on your desktop: open Sapience with a single click on the S, jump to your Favorites, create anything from the blue New menu, and search, dictate or talk to your agent β each with the same icon you know from inside Sapience.
