Dragging Files Into Sapience
Drop a file where you are and Sapience does the obvious thing — attach to chat, upload where you stand, or a quick chat-or-upload choice.
Overview
You can drag a file straight from your computer onto Sapience — no need to hunt for an upload button first. What used to happen next was always the same: an upload form popped open, no matter where you dropped the file or what you actually wanted to do with it.
Now Sapience pays attention to where you are when you drop the file, and only asks you a question when it genuinely can't tell what you meant. If you're mid-conversation with an agent, it just attaches. If you're standing in a folder, it just uploads there. Only when the destination — or your intent — is actually unclear do you see a quick choice.
That predictability is the point: once you know the rule for where you're standing, you know exactly what a drop is going to do before you do it.
Where You Are Decides What Happens

The rule underneath all of this: Sapience only asks when it doesn't already know both where the file should go and why you dropped it there. In a chat, both are obvious. Standing in Files, the destination is obvious. Inside a project, the destination is known but your intent isn't — so that's the one thing you're asked. Everywhere else, neither is known.
The "Chat with this file" Choice
Whenever you see the small window, choosing "Chat with this file" does the same thing no matter where you were standing:
- It starts a brand-new conversation.
- It takes you straight to that conversation.
- It attaches your file.
- It confirms the attachment in the thread, so you can start asking about the file right away.
If you drag in several files at once, the button reads "Chat with these N files" and all of them are attached to the new conversation.
Dragging In a Whole Folder
Dropping an entire folder (rather than individual files) always works the same way, no matter where you drop it: Sapience recreates the folder's structure for you. Folders never trigger the small choice window — there's nothing to ask, since a folder full of files isn't something you'd "chat about."
The one exception is a chat conversation: drag a folder in while you're in a chat, and every file inside it attaches to that conversation.
What Happens Behind the Scenes
- Sapience looks at what you dropped — one file, several files, or a folder.
- It looks at where you dropped it — a specific chat, somewhere inside Files, a project, or somewhere else entirely.
- If both are already clear, it just acts — attaching to the open chat, or uploading to the folder you're standing in — with no interruption.
- If either one is genuinely unclear, it asks — a single, small window with exactly two choices, worded for the situation you're in (naming the project when it knows one).
- Whatever you choose, Sapience carries it out immediately — there's no second step or extra confirmation after your answer.

Summary
Dragging a file into Sapience now does the obvious thing whenever the obvious thing is clear: it attaches to an open chat, or it uploads to the folder you're standing in — no interruptions either way. You're only asked a quick question when Sapience genuinely can't tell whether you want to chat about the file or file it away, and even then the answer is one click. Drop in a whole folder anywhere outside a chat, and it's rebuilt in Sapience exactly as it was on your computer.
